Just got a new 477dw. But I am having some trouble scanning at 1200dpi (which I do for scanning CD cover art - descreening works much better at 1200 dpi than 600 dpi).

Scan to Network Folder works very nicely, but only supports up to 600 dpi scanning. Any idea as to why 1200 dpi is not supported? Also, the TIFF files generated cannot be read by my (oldish) Photoshop Elements 12 ('Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document' when I open the file in PS). Using JPG is not very good for halftone removal. So far, the only solution I have found is to scan directly into Photoshop, but this is quite cumbersome. The video was useful in pointing out that 1200 dpi scanning is supported from the scan glass, but not from the ADF (which is a reasonable limitation - the ADF is intended for document scanning, where 600 dpi is a perfectly fine high resolution). Both the HP Scan program and the Win10 HP Scan and Capture app allow to limit scan to the scan glass and go all the way to 1200 dpi. This does not really solve my practical issue. Both of those approaches need you to trigger the scan from the PC, not from the printer.

Not a significant improvement from scanning directly in Photoshop: for each scan, I still need to go to the printer, put the next page (or CD insert) on the glass, go back to my PC and click on HP Scan. When doing single CDs, not really an issue. When doing a large box which has 40-80 CDs, this becomes a real chore. The nice thing with Scan to Folder from the printer UI is that you can issue all the scan commands from the printer itself, which is very convenient. But it does not allow you to specify Scan from glass only, which (indirectly) limits you to 600 dpi. I also played with Scan to Computer, but I could not find any way to change the defaults.

It looks like the default actions are built-in, with no way to modify them or add more. AFAIK, the only control is whether Scan to Computer is enabled or not, not what it does.
