Dota 2 Patch Manually
I think Steam just only let you patch and update online cause the security issue, maybe it's will be safe for you and for everyone. But really,im using Optus Net with 60 GB per month and really, sometime, steam update and game update,it's take a lot of time and took alot of Gb,and i have 4 steam at home with my family and 4 ppls update at the same time.not enought Gb for everyone,so,i just do this: 1 ppl download and update everything and then, coppy the game or steam folder and paste to another pc,so when i restart, steam gonna update itself and game update too. Hope this would help you:D bro:D. Originally posted by:i think Steam just only let you patch and update online cause the security issue, maybe it's will be safe for you and for everyone. Hope this would help you:D bro:D:d2axe: thanks for the tip but i also do that and i know for you have 4 PC it takes some time to copy the steam to a flash drive or external HDD. Then another time for copying to other PC. And i have 10 PC here so if we sum up 1 task for about 15min of copy to usb + 15min Copy to PC (10 units) in short thats 15+150= 165 min of work. This does not include the patching time or update time =). Unless if we have manual patch its like i download it lets say 10min then copy it to 1 drive (assuming its only small download maybe 500mb or 300mb) 3-5min and insatll it for about 5min(10units) thats allready 10+5+100= 115 min of work INCLUDING THE DOWNLOAD TIME. Originally posted by:^ yes but for example i got PC 10 clients and steam updates every day even twice a day sometimes its so hard to patch all 10 units especially if patch is huge.
I also consider copy and pasting the steam but am i gonna copy and paste 9GB of data every time. Manual patching also makes less corrupted file since its already in a.exe format or.rar format right? I have also 10 computers, and what i do is just patch 1 computer and copy paste using teracopy which has an option of overwrite older files only, so it would take less time to update the folder of steam. Originally posted by:This may be redundant, but still, can I ask if we can just download one file every update and push it to other computers like what we are doing with windows update, one download server then push to all client PCs?
Is there a model like that? How are computer shops doing this? Are they downloading it in every PC or in just one download server and push it to client PCs? Please enlighten!
